Job Description:


The Packaging Innovation Insights Scientist is tasked with translating and interpreting consumer needs in packaging in order that packaging innovations may be realized and successfully developed.


 


Job Responsibilities:



  1. Creating new packaging innovations by understanding consumer needs, trends and Marketing aspirations.

  2. Partnering with appropriate suppliers to develop new packaging technologies to meet Marketing needs.

  3. Liaise with market research to measure and understand consumer acceptance of new packaging innovations before and during commercial introduction.

  4. Partner with Marketing in all aspects of packaging ideation to assure timely development of appropriate packaging innovation.

  5. Follow competitive intelligence in all packaging concepts worldwide and competitive packaging changes.

  6. Partner with breweries and packaging engineers to assure successful machineability and commercialization of novel packaging concepts.

  7. Deliver ideas, concepts, and prototypes that align with Marketing requirements.


 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


 


Education: BS degree or higher in chemical engineering or related discipline plus at least 10 years experience in consumer goods packaging innovations.


 


Skills and/or Knowledge:



  • A high degree of creativity in analyzing customer needs, problem solving and facilitating the delivery of innovative packaging solutions



  • In depth and extensive understanding of the technical interrelationships of engineering and the efficient production of new packages.



  • Working knowledge of traditional and alternative packaging materials, global packaging styles, and their manufacture, and broad scope awareness and understanding of and their impact on the quality of process and product.

  • Ability to partner with such bodies as the Institute for Perception or similar consumer science entities plus be active in appropriate professional packaging organizations.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
